Hello 2016

Well, I think it is safe to say that 2015 wasn't my best blogging year. It seems that as the years go by, I let the blog fall more and more off my radar, I always say that I will do better next year, and make blogging resolutions and all that... but let's be honest, it doesn't really ever happen for me anymore.
At this point, I feel more connected with my bookish peeps on IG then I do on here, I've also utilized Goodreads more, and I am finding that the simplicity is more my style.
I'm not saying that this blog is going away... I of course love it to keep in touch and do reviews and participate in great fun readathons (like Bout of Books coming up!)... what I am saying is that I'm going to stop putting pressure on myself and feeling shitty when I don't blog. I've spent more time feeling crappy about it and reading books I've gotten for review then I have reading books for me and not giving a damn about writing some long winded review that a handful of people will read. I'm at a point where I'd rather read for me and review books in a simple, short, and sweet forum like GoodReads and Amazon.
I had given some thought to starting a LBR instagram solely dedicated to books and mini reviews... but I am not so sure I would have the stamina for that either- I mean really, the #bookstagram hashtag is ridiculous.... it is beautiful, but I don't have time to perfectly pose photos like that. So really, I doubt I will.

So, for 2016, I resolve to do what I want. I'll review books I feel like reviewing, I'm going to stop saying yes to every pitch, I'll write about other things and not feel ashamed of that, I'll stop pressuring myself to keep this blog constantly updated, and I'll start reading for me again.

Oh, and I'll use the hell out of the blog for readathons... as I always do.

write to be understood, speak to be heard, read to grow

  1. I sometimes forget that you have a blog, but I'm glad that you still do. I do follow you on Instagram more, but would like to see you here more (but NO PRESSURE) as I believe this is where I first came across you.

Definitely with you resolving to do what you want. I'm doing what I want too. No reading challenges, other than personal of reading more nonfiction. No readalongs. No other bookish events, except maybe readathon, but we'll see.

    1. Same goes for you! We did find eachother through the blogging world, but I follow you more on IG too. At this point, I think I follow everyone more on IG. Lol. It's the picture junkie in me!

Ummm, no pressure or anything, but you HAVE to 24hr readathon at least 1x 😊
Besides, it's a wicked good excuse to lounge, snack, and read all day. (Wait, we kind of do that already with no shame...)
