Armchair BEA: Introductions First!

Hello Hello!  This is my first year participating in ArmchairBEA and this is my first post!  I'm busy working this week, but hope to get as much as possible out of this experience!  I'm really excited to join in Armchair BEA and meet new book bloggers.  Right now, I am trying to get back into faithful blogging- so this is a great place to start for me.

Moving on... to the interview!

1. A bit about me: Hi-hello-howareyou?! I'm Jenna and I have been blogging on and off since mid-2009. My life is busy and I haven't always carved out the time to blog (hence the on/off since '09) but am making a pointed effort to do so now! I began blogging mainly to keep my books, thoughts, reviews, and general ramblings in one place.

2. Currently Reading: Right now, I am rereading the entire Harry Potter series. I just started The Half-Blood Prince last week.

3. One non-book-related thing about me: Well, this is exciting to share as it was JUST finialized on Friday... I've purchased my FIRST home and am now waiting (not so patiently) for closing on the 18th of June. YaY!

7. If I could have dinner with any author.... I would spend an evening with JK Rowling. She is a woman that I would like to learn from.  Also, I'm curious about the entire Harry Potter empire- how it started & gained speed, how it changed her life... she is someone that I want to have a cup of coffee with.

10. Have my reading tastes changed since I began blogging?: I would say so... when I first started blogging I was reading a lot of books pertaining to psychology and psychiatry (reference, memoirs, fiction and non-fiction). I still love books relating to the field, but took a break- being immersed in it daily (due to my job) it was beginning to become overwhelming.  I grew into reading more dystopian and general fiction as I've progressed, as well as a healthy dose of YA. They were (and are) a bit of an escape for me.

I need to reread Harry Potter soon!!! I am 8 months pregnant right now so maybe I will read Harry Potter to my daughter after she is born!

I would love to have dinner with JK Rowling too! Have you seen the movie they made about her with Poppy Montgomery? I think it was on lifetime or something but I actually really liked it. She really is interesting.

  8. So wonderful to "meet" you. Isn't it wonderful to be able to talk about books with people you've never even met - but you become friends. :) Armchair BEA @ the Brunette Librarian

  10. The Harry Potter books are great. I'm so glad the transition to movies was handled so well; probably the best example of a series translated to screen, with maybe exception of the Lord of the Rings, though they had half the movies of HP.

YA is such a fun category -- it's so open with different subgenres. I love Cassandra Clare and John Green.

    Congrats on your new house!

  12. You can never read the Harry Potter books too much. Congrats on the home. I'm a committed and loyal apartment dweller, so I'm always a bit in awe of those who get out there and buy there own homes. Then I shudder at the idea of all that yard work.

  13. Congrats on the new house!!! That's so exciting!

I'm a big fan of psychology-type books too. (Have you read Perfect Chaos? it's a newer release..memoir about bipolar told from the mother and daughter's perspective. SO good.)

YA is definitely a great escape genre! That's why I started reading them and it's taken off from there. I love a bit of everything, though.

Thanks for stopping by mine! Can't wait to "get to know you" more this week.

  14. hello! :)

fithful blogging is tough! Sometimes it's so hard to keep up with. I'm trying to get back into the swing of it too.

J.k. Rowling would be amazing to spend a dinner with! She's so interesting. Did you see her interview on Oprah? I watched it on youtube a while back. Rowling is so neat. I can't wait to read her new adult novel.

Books are my escape too. I think that's why I tend to read more paranormal and dystopian instead of more real life stuff.
